Incentivazione studenti di Ingegneria, immatricolati a.a.2015/2016: ecco i primi vincitori

La graduatoria dei vincitori del bando per l’incentivazione degli studenti di Ingegneria immatricolati a.a. 2015/2016 è resa pubblica oggi.

Dal momento che sono risulati vincitori 57 studenti sui 66 posti messi a bando, il termine per la presentazione delle domande è stato prorogato al 18/05/2018.

Abstract – The 5G wireless communication system will offer, in addition to high-data rate wireless communication, a large heterogeneity of services. As such, 5G will also form the backbone for the Internet of Things, Smart Surfaces and Wearables. Novel antenna systems for these new technologies will be subject to high levels of random fluctuations. On the one hand, fabrication tolerances will become more important when moving to millimeter-wave operation frequencies, as required for high data throughput, or when relying on common off-the-shelf substrate materials and inexpensive manufacturing techniques, to reduce cost.

In this lecture, we propose a novel holistic paradigm for the design of antenna systems as part of a sustainable wireless communication system. This strategy is founded on four fundamental pillars. First, the designer must select the right materials and fabrication technologies, to ensure user comfort, robustness, production yield and acceptable cost. Second, a design process must be adopted that includes the antenna system in its initial stages and synergistically integrates electronic circuitry and energy harvesters on this antenna platform. This also contributes to the third step, which maximizes energy autonomy. In a final step, the designer must leverage stochastic design tools to include variability and uncertainty.

Bio– Hendrik Rogier received the Electrical Engineering and the Ph.D.degrees from Ghent University, Gent, Belgium, in 1994 and in 1999, respectively. He is a currently a Full Professor with the Department of Information Technology, Ghent University, a Guest Professor with the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre, Ghent, Belgium, and a Visiting Professor with the University of Buckingham, Buckingham, U.K. From October 2003 to April 2004, he was Visiting Scientist at the Mobile Communications Group of Vienna University of Technology. He authored and coauthored about 145 papers in international journals and about 160 contributions in conference proceedings. His current research interests are antenna systems, radiowave propagation, body-centric communication, numerical electromagnetics, electromagnetic compatibility and power/signal integrity. He was twice awarded the URSI Young Scientist Award. Moreover, he received the 2014 Premium Award for Best Paper in IET Electronics Letters and several awards at conferences. He is an Associate Editor of IET Electronics Letters, IET Microwaves, Antennas and Propagation, and the IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques. He acts as the URSI Commission B representative for Belgium and is a Senior Member of the IEEE.

Titolo: Remote sensing data in agrometeorology: Some examples of applications at FAO

Abstract:

Remote sensing data are a powerful source of information for agrometeorology, providing high spatial and temporal resolution information about land surfaces characteristics. In particular, the NDVI and NDWI indices are powerful proxies of plant health, biomass production and soil moisture. The information provided is helpful in understanding and modeling biological processes driven by weather and climate parameters, key goals in agrometeorlogy. Nevertheless, the derived models should be calibrated and validated against ground-level data, which is sometimes a challenging task. The talk will illustrate some examples of the use of remote sensing data in the context of FAO projects to support governmental institutions in the implementation or improvement of agrometeorological services and early warning systems.

Speaker: Dr. Raffaella Vuolo,  FAO, Climate and Environmental Division, Adaptation Team.

Raffaella Vuolo has studied atmospheric physics at University of Cagliari and Ecole Polytechnique of Paris and carried out research activities in various institutes in France and Italy, where her main work areas were climate and atmospheric transport modeling and agrometeorological field measurements. She now works with FAO on the use of weather and climate information for agriculture, supporting the development and implementation in developing countries of a climate impact assessment tool, MOSAICC. She also contributes to the crop, weather and climate data collection, quality assessment and analysis through exchanges, trainings and technical support with local experts in the countries.

E ha chiamato a discuterne Alberto Berretti del dipartimento di Ingegneria Civile e Ingegneria Informatica (DICII) di “Tor Vergata” assieme a Claudio Agosti e Arturo Filastò.

Facebook precipita in borsa, celebrità e innovatori invitano il pubblico alla cancellazione dei loro account, accuse al fondatore e CEO del colosso social: i fatti di cronaca riguardanti Facebook e la società Cambridge Analytica hanno invaso media e web nelle ultime settimane e ogni giorno sembrano emergere
nuovi sviluppi.
Cambridge Analytica è una società di marketing, specializzata nel raccogliere dati dai social network, elaborati poi da modelli e algoritmi per creare profili di ogni utente, usati poi per fini politici e commerciali.
Cambridge Analytica, tramite l’applicazione “thisisyourdigitallife” di Aleksandr Kogan, è riuscita ad ottenere i dati non solo di chi si era volontariamente iscritto all’app (circa 270mila persone) bensì anche degli amici di quest’ultimi (circa 50 milioni di persone, salite nei giorni scorsi ad 80 milioni), chiara violazione dei termini d’uso di Facebook.
Molti affermano che il successo elettorale di Trump o della Brexit è dovuto anche lavoro di Cambridge Analytica.
Riuscire ad orientarsi in un mondo dove il dato ha assunto una tale importanza strategica viene da molti reputata una priorità.

Claudio Agosti (conosciuto anche come Vecna) è uno sviluppatore software che attualmente dirige due progetti open source, Facebook.tracking.exposed e Invi.sible.link. Il primo è un’iniziativa collaborativa nell’analizzare le dinamiche di Facebook, il funzionamento del suo algoritmo e della sua logica black box. Il secondo progetto, iniziato con Trackography.org e poi sostenuto da una borsa di ricerca (opentech.fund) ha l’obiettivo di sviluppare una pipe line per l’analisi dei web trackers. Agosti fa parte del Good Technology Collective e del think thank Diem25, con sede a Berlino. Ha contribuito al documentario Nothing to Hide ed è vicepresidente del Centro Hermes. Alberto Berretti e’ laureato in Fisica all’Universita’ di Roma “La Sapienza”. Ha studiato al Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences della New York University e ha lavorato all’Institut de Physique Theorique del Politecnico Federale di Losanna. Dal 1986 insegna all’Universita’ di Roma Tor Vergata, Facolta’ di Ingegneria. Lavora nell’area della Meccanica Statistica e dei Sistemi Dinamici. Nel 1995 ha scritto con Vittorio Zambardino “Internet – Avviso ai Naviganti”, uno dei primi libri in Italia che descriveva l’allora emergente fenomeno Internet. Si e’ occupato a lungo di Sicurezza Informatica e ha scritto con Giuseppe Carducci il libro “Manuale di Sicurezza Aziendale”, il primo libro completo nella gestione della sicurezza delle informazioni in italiano. Recentemente ha scritto una storia del malware nel libro “L’Impero del Malware”, di cui sta scrivendo la seconda edizione completamente riveduta e notevolmente ampliata.

Arturo Filastò è co-fondatore e capo sviluppatore software di Open Observatory of Network Interference (OONI), un progetto di software libero inserito nel Tor Project, che dal 2012 si occupa di monitorare la censura su Internet in tutto il mondo. Arturo è anche co-fondatore e vice presidente dell’Hermes Centre for Digital Human Rights. Precedentemente ha lavorato nel team degli sviluppatori di GlobaLeaks, la prima piattaforma open source di whistleblowing che permette a gruppi e singoli di segnalare, in modo protetto, corruzione, violazioni dei diritti umani e altre ingiustizie. Arturo ha contribuito a sviluppare molti progetti, tra cui Tor2Web e Atlas. Ha studiato matematica e informatica all’Università di Roma “La Sapienza”.
